This is Part V of several posts featuring our favorite Caribbean tropical island: St. John, USVI. We have shared how to get to St. John, as well as some of our
favorite beaches, restaurants, and places to stay. We thought we had finished out our series on St. John, however a new resort popped up, and it intrigued
us so much we reached out to them. To our delight they invited us to come and visit the resort for a few days! We thank the staff for so graciously hosting our visit, and making us feel so welcome and special!
The Saint Resort
The new resort, called The Saint, is an adults-only (18+) resort, spa, restaurant, and day club in Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI. It officially opened in March of this year, and from what we can see, has been turning heads ever since! When we arrived, Mark met us and gave us a quick tour around the cozy, uniquely designed resort. He then showed us to our room, The Hawksnest. We were delighted to see how bright and tropical the room was decorated. The resort has three of these studio-type accommodations with one bedroom and one bathroom. It also features two suites, which are 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms. They includes a full kitchen, living room, dining area, and outdoor patio. There is one penthouse, aptly named the “Saint Penthouse”, which has one bedroom and one bathroom. Due to it’s location on the 3rd level of the hillside, it gives breathtaking views of the Caribbean!

We loved the view from our “lanai”! We could see all the way to the island of St. Thomas!

Aerial, the Restaurant
Sitting atop the hillside, above the inviting pool, is the resort’s restaurant, Aerial. It is a casual-but-elegant open-air dining experience, which includes a bar tucked away in one corner with high top seating and views of the sea. The restaurant is open for dinner from 5-9pm each night except Tuesdays, and also serves a delicious brunch on Sundays from 10am-3pm. Both dinner and brunch are open to the public, but reservations are highly recommended due to the small venue. It is well worth trying to snag a reservation! We participated in the brunch on Sunday, and had dinner there Monday night. Both meals were delicious, and we were delighted when Chef Vincent came to our table, gave us some great recommendations, and stayed and chatted with us before heading back into the kitchen. He is such an asset to the team at The Saint! He is a man of many talents, as we saw him all around the resort!

Lovango Rum Bar
Since The Saint is within walking distance to many bars and other restaurants in Cruz Bay, we decided to take a walk into town for dinner the first night we were in St. John. As we were leaving the resort, we saw “Chef” Vincent and he asked us where we were going for dinner. We hadn’t quite made up our mind on that, but said we were leaning towards pizza, but were open for suggestions. He then told us that the Lovango Rum Bar was their “sister” restaurant (owned and operated by same owner) and they had really great pizza. It was just down the hill, and an easy walk after our long day of travel. We decided to give it a go. We have been to St. John many times over the years, and we have our favorite places to eat, but had never tried Lovango Rum Bar. Once again, we were not disappointed. A special shout out to Kimberly, our waitress, who was so friendly and personable. We really liked her! The views again: SPECTACULAR!

Wellness/Relaxation
The Saint Resort has many opportunities for wellness/interaction around the resort. Several mornings a week Yoga is offered around the pool, and on some mornings “Sound Waves” is offered. This is a very unique experience, one in which David and I were offered and took advantage of. The wellness instructor, Corinne, was so informative in explaining and leading this practice. “Water beds” (they look like air mattresses but float on top of the water) are put in the pool and you lay on top of them. As Corinne sits on the side of the pool, and as you relax with eyes closed the entire time, she takes you through a series of wave sounds using singing bowls, chimes, and other really interesting musical instruments. She gently helps melt any stress away by speaking therapeutic, quiet but energetic phrases, and when the session is over you feel like a newly restored, rested Being ready to start a new day! Corinne is absolutely an asset to The Saint Resort, sharing her knowledge of wellness, relaxation and healing through this fun and interactive practice. Thank you, Corinne! (this was a spontaneous thing we did at the last minute so we didn’t take any pictures!)
Live Entertainment
On Sunday we decided to have a relaxing pool day at the resort after our brunch. There is a bar at the end of the pool, with seating on the outside of the pool as well as “swim up” seats inside the pool. You don’t even have to get out of the pool for a drink! The highlight of our Sunday pool day, however, was the live music provided by none other than Erin Hart, Islandgirlmusic! We had heard her several years ago at Cruz Bay Landing, and were so excited she would be “serenading” us by the pool. She has such a unique, sweet voice, and the majority of her songs she has written herself, which we absolutely LOVED! We felt like real VIP’s as Erin gave us basically a private concert! Once again, The Saint Resort has hit the jackpot having Erin in their lineup!!
I would also like to mention at Lovango Rum Bar there was live music as well the night that we went, and coincidentally the performer’s name was Aaron. He was fun to listen to and did a great job entertaining on the outside patio. I guess there’s something about the name Erin/Aaron and great music?? lol.

Maho, Mayhem, and Molten Mondays!
On Monday we decided to go off resort and get to our favorite beach, Maho Beach. We love to snorkel, and swim with the turtles there. We didn’t rent a jeep this visit, since we were only on island for 3 days. Another first for us was riding in the open air “taxis”, as we always rent a jeep. Well, plans changed quickly as there was a collision (not us) on the very narrow road on the way to Maho, so we had to back down the road/hill into the Trunk Bay Beach parking lot. So that is where we ended up for the day! We didn’t get to swim with the turtles, but we did have fun swimming alongside the “diving pelicans”, and we also saw an octopus on the snorkel trail!

After returning back to the resort, we had dinner at Aerial and watched the Molten Mondays fire dancer show. This show is every Friday and Monday evenings, and starts at sunset. Our poolside bartender, JT, doubled as a fire dancer and delighted us with his talents, along with the girls who started off the show. The pool changed colors and made for a beautiful evening setting with this one-of-a-kind entertainment!

Time’s Up!
For such a small, quaint resort set amidst other well known establishments along the hillside in Cruz Bay, The Saint Resort is a pleasant surprise offering so much to do and experience. I should also mention there is a small gym on property, as well as the Freq Spa, which offers a full Spa Menu for “relaxation, healing, and transformation”. There are hot tubs and cool plunge bath tubs in natural settings tucked in spaces around the resort. We just ran out of time! We can say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Saint, and will definitely be back to pick up where we left off and try out more of these amenities!
The staff at The Saint were simply superb, their friendliness and pride in the new establishment showing in their desire to treat each guest so special. Once again, we thank The Saint Resort for our time there and truly wish for success as the New Kid on the Block!

Ohh, looks like a fabulous trip!!!
