David and I travel ALOT! We have managed to fine-tune our packing, our system for getting through airports, and how to quickly get on and off airplanes with ease. Here are our TOP TEN favorite travel tips, (in no specific order) that we would like to share with you.

Roll your clothes when packing. This saves so much room and allows for more!! Also, put your socks and underwear inside your shoes to save space.
Pack a few ziplock bags in case you have last minute wet items (such as swimsuits) as you are packing to come home after your trip.
We rarely check bags when we travel. It saves so much time, and because we fly standby, it allows us to change or flights/routing if needed. So if possible, DO NOT CHECK BAGS!!
Take snacks in your carry-on bag, such as granola bars, fruit snacks, veggie straws, nuts, etc. This way you won’t be tempted to spend money on overpriced items in airports or on the airplane. These snacks will also come in handy at midnight when you are in your hotel room with no food and you are hungry!!
If flying, allow extra time to get through security at any airport. If you can, get TSA pre-check and/or Global Entry (for international flights). This will save you so much time when going through security. Most times you won’t have to take your shoes off, or take anything out of your bags for x-ray.
If wearing sandals or open-toed shoes when flying, always have a pair of warm socks in your carry-on bag to wear on the airplane. My feet always get cold!
Along those same lines, take a roll up blanket that you can attach to your roller-bag (It won’t count as a carry-on) The airplanes can get cold–and if it’s not cold on the airplane, you can use the blanket as a neck roll or pillow. (Most air carriers don’t give out pillow or blankets in coach anymore).
Invest in a charger wallet/purse. Here is what I use. Also, a portable battery pack/charger is great to charge your cell-phone and/or laptop when you can’t find a place to plug in.
Take your own water bottle. Here is what we use. Make sure it is empty when you go through security, then you can fill it up at the water station on the way to your gate. Most airports have water stations. This way you won’t have to buy a $5 bottle of water! Once on the airplane, if they offer bottled water, take it (ask for two)! Even if you don’t drink it then, you can put it in your carry-on for later.
Ladies–I travel with a crossbody purse, a backpack, and a roller board suitcase. This is considered too many carry-on items!! What I will do is take out the necessary items I need from my purse (such as lip gloss, reading glasses, sunglasses, mints) and I put those in the front of my backpack–that way I can get to them easily on the airplane, as I put my backpack under the seat in front of me. This will save me from rummaging around in my backpack for my purse and looking for those items. When we land, I put those items back in my crossbody purse, put that on and then my backpack before deplaning, and now I have what I need again in an accessible place right in front of me when we are off of the airplane!! I also use my crossbody purse while I am sightseeing and/or going out at my destination.
Bonus Tip: Invest in noise-cancelling headphones or earbuds. I tried the earbuds, but they do not fit in my ear properly to cancel out the noise, so I prefer to use the headphone style. I (almost) cannot travel without my headphones. I like these. They are great for reducing the noise on the commuter flights, but they also block out loud talkers and crying babies!!
Well, there you have it! Our favorite tips when traveling. Most of these tips are pretty common, but it’s always nice to read them again and commit to memory before your next flight!! I hope this is helpful!!
